Katie Henry, 16, is an eleventh grader from Kotzebue, Alaska. She started mushing when she was 8 years old after discovering just how much fun it was! For the past few years, Katie and her family have been working on the kennel together. When not running dogs as a family, you can find them camping, boating or fishing. In addition to finishing the 2022 Jr. Iditarod in 8th place, Katie has also run in the 2018 and 2021 Jr. Kobuk (2nd place both times) and 2022 Women's Sprint Race (1st place). She says that she is inspired by Lance Mackey and would like to continue running sled dogs as she gets older. After high school, Katie plans to become a veterinarian.
