10th Grade - Northwestern High School

Morgan Martens, 16, is a tenth grader from Brule, Wisconsin. He was born into the mushing and has been raised around all sorts of animals. With mushing in his family, Morgan has an expansive list of races he has run over the last ten years. Some of the more recent races include Northern Pines Sled Dog Race (5th place in 2020 and 7th place in 2022), Jr. Iditarod (1st place in 2021 and 3rd place in 2022), Gunflint Mail Run 60 (8th place in 2022), Lake Minnetonka Klondike Dog Derby (13th place and Vet's Choice in 2022), and Jr. Beargrease 120 (1st place in 2022). When not training or racing dogs, Morgan can be found participating in track, cross country running, camping, skiing, fishing, and horse back riding. To support his love of mushing, he splits firewood and sells it. Morgan is excited to be back for his third Jr. Iditarod running Ryan Redington's dogs. He is thankful for the knowledge about training and racing that Ryan has shared over the years. After high school, Morgan plans to continue running sled dogs including the new litter of pups that his family just bred up.
