Hazel Sutton, 14, is a ninth grader from Fairbanks, Alaska. Her family had dogs before she was born and she started running them as a little kid. While Jr. Iditarod will be the longest race she has run, Hazel has raced T-Dog 50, Jr. North America Championship (JNAC), and Solstice Relay. When not out with the dogs, she can be found cross country skiing, bird watching, running, reading, or hiking. After high school, Hazel is thinking of getting a degree in biology, ornithology, or veterinary science; and she plans to continue mushing.
