Mckena Hanson, 15, is a tenth grader from Anchorage, Alaska. She is a 5th generation musher and can remember being captivated by all the interesting stories that her family has told over the years. Last year was her first year on the runners, but she got a variety of experience with Knik 100 (13th), Willow Jr. 100 (5th), and Jr. Iditarod (11th). In addition to mushing, Mckena plays hockey and tennis. After high school, she plans to continue mushing.
